Rainy Forest – A Free and Animated Screensaver for Windows
Rainy Forest, a free Windows screensaver offered by FullScreensavers.com, kicks in when your computer is idle and displays three things on your desktop:
1. It displays an image of a tropical rainforest. The screensaver cycles through three different images. From the screensaver’s settings page you cannot choose for how long an image will be displayed - you could do that with other screensavers offered by FullScreensavers.com.
What you can choose is if you want the images to be played 'In order', 'Shuffle', or 'Intelligent Random'.
What’s there to shuffle, since there are only 3 images! And what’s the difference between shuffle and random? Guess we’ll never know since there’s no Help file. To my mind, there’s no difference between the two.
2. It displays various animations on top of the aforementioned images of the tropical rainforest. There’s a monkey, and a snake, and a parrot, and other things of the sort.
3. A clock in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Other screensavers offered by FullScreensavers.com allowed you to change the clock’s position and even disable the clock – Rainy Forest does not .
There are more bad news I’m afraid. The images displayed by Rainy Forest are accompanied by sound effects. Other screensavers offered by FullScreensavers.com allowed you to disable these sounds – Rainy Forest, you’ve guessed it, does not. Other screensavers offered by the same developer allowed you to create a personalized playlist that would be played by the screensaver when it kicked it – Rainy Forest, you’ve guessed it again, does not.
Before you go get Rainy Forest and put it to the test, take a look at the technical details presented below:
Download – the download weighs in at 7.2MB.
Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, Rainy Forest provides support for the following Windows versions: Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, 2003, and Vista.
Limitations – there are no limitations since Rainy Forest is freeware. You can use Rainy Forest for as long as you want and not part with your hard earned money.
Pay attention during the installation process as the options to install a Firefox toolbar, Internet Explorer toolbar, set your homepage to the customized web search page of FullScreensavers, and set the FullScreensavers web search as your default search are checked by default. If you don’t want to change your homepage, default search, or install a toolbar, uncheck these options.
